ACSA Region XI President’s Message:

“The fluidity of your thoughts is based on the flexibility of your beliefs and the boundaries you've set around them.”

As I write this most of us are preparing for a new school year, going in many directions. As of this writing California does not have a passed State budget. This is the life and times of California. Shaky at best. At a recent meeting, my District's CBO brought to light, some trivia regarding California's State Budget. Wanted to pass this information along.

1. When is the deadline for the State Legislature to pass a budget? June 15
2. How many times in the last 20 years has that deadline been met? ZERO
3. How many times in the last 20 years has the budget been passed by June 30? Four

a. During the month of July? Ten
b. During the month of August? Four
c. During the month of September? Two

It will be interesting to see how long it will take to pass the budget and if it will make history. Time will tell. Rest assured State ACSA is working hard for education and its members.

ACSA Region XI will continue to work on the established 2006-2007 goals: administrative support, membership increase of 5%, support of teaching and learning and more effective communication between the Region and the Charters. Each member of the executive committee has been challenged to bring in one new member this year. The Region then would meet its membership goal of 5%. I am passing on that challenge to you.

As State ACSA continues to work on its communication with its members, Region XI will be focusing on the same issue.

Belonging to a membership drawn organization as ACSA has its perks. It provides benefits that assist and offers services to enhance members at all levels and during any situation. Region XI will be exploring, at the Region meetings, “Learning the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.” This tool will be used to enhance leadership qualities.

You are invited to participate in your local charter meetings as well as the Region XI meetings.
